So I run workshops from time to time. It's one of my favourite avenues on this lettering journey.

Pointed pen calligraphy - learn to use a pointed nib
This informal, practical and inspirational workshop exploring the wonderful art of writing using a nib and ink, but with a modern twist. Learn basic letter forms to help you understand and appreciate the slow flow of the nib.
Modern calligraphy requires a good deal of practice. You will leave this workshop with a starter set to continue your skill development at home and the confidence to explore lettering further in order to find your own modern calligraphy style.

Brush lettering workshop
Brush lettering calligraphy encompasses the principles of modern calligraphy but with a more relaxed feel.
Learn how to hold your brush pen, become comfortable with lettering strokes and then practice writing words and phrases.
You leave with a starter kit to continue exploring letters and brush calligraphy at home.

Intermediate modern calligraphy
This next step calligraphy workshop is aimed at those who know the basics of modern calligraphy and want to take their lettering to the next level.
We begin the workshop with some inspiring drill exercises. We will then explore bounce and flourishing, helping you consider composition and spacing to create special pieces that mean more because they are beautifully written with your own modern script style.
Guests are asked to bring their favourite pen holder with them as well as a Zebra G or Nikko G nib to warm up with.
Guests will receive a kit to take home. This will include new nibs to experiment with and we will work with some beautiful gold ink to add some flamboyance to our lettered pieces.

Faux calligraphy workshop

This creative session explores faux calligraphy lettering techniques; a technique to imitate the style of modern calligraphy but using everyday pens.
The workshop begins with letter form practice, understanding how to create modern script and a font that is pleasing to you.
We will then use these skills to create your own wording and design on a slate sign with a few words of your choosing using chalk pens. You might like to use this in your own home or garden, or create something as a new home or birthday gift for someone special.

Private Tuition (one-to-one or small group workshops)
If you’d prefer to experience a one-to-one workshop in the comfort of your own home or if you have the space to host a small workshop for a small group of friends, or creative family afternoon perhaps involving generations coming together to learn a new skill , I’d be delighted to help accommodate your requests.
This more personal approach to learning involves a 2-hour workshop tailored to your needs to cover either pointed pen, brush calligraphy or faux calligraphy.
